DOM, MDA, STP, & MDMA
Attempts to develop chemical variants of mescaline and certain amphetamine types have led to the production of chemicals with hallucinogenic qualities. DOM, first synthesized in 1963, first gained extensive popularity in 1967 in the Haight-Asbury district of San Francisco. Nicknamed STP, for "serenity, tranquillity, and peace", this quickly led to the production of a variety of similar chemicals, most notably MDA and MDMA, that differed greatly in terms of their potency, duration of effect, speed of onset, and their mood-altering capacities.
Normally synthesized in clandestine labs, these chemicals method of dosage can vary from powder to liquid to "blotter" dosages like LSD. Methods of use include "snorting", smoking, I.V. injection and oral ingestion.
